ADDED----To BOOKS, Freedom and Education in Rousseau's Emile, Chapter 2.
This website explores one approach to applying the philosophy of Richard McKeon, which can be described as intellectual pluralism.
I am a retired Professor of Education who has recently been looking back over my career and has realized how thoroughly the idea of intellectual pluralism has shaped both my teaching and my research. I have decided to share some of my work via the internet in order to encourage others to explore the fruitful possibilities which the application of McKeon's philosophy opens up. Though the particular examples I offer here are explicitly about education, their implications for both theory and practice extend far beyond that field.
I hope you enjoy exploring this approach to thinking, acting, and feeling.
Since this website acts as an introduction to McKeon's work through my application of it, you may at some point wish to visit a site that is dedicated specifically to his original work. If so, see
[The pictures above depict several of the countries which I have visited in order both to learn about educating in ways other than those practiced in the United States as well as to deliver lectures introducing McKeon's philosophy and suggesting examples of it's applications in education.]
